Comparing yourself.

STOP COMPARING YOURSELF, YOUR WORK, YOUR PURSUITS, YOUR POSITION, YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, YOUR BODY, YOUR FACE, YOUR INSTAGRAM FOLLOWING, YOUR STYLE, YOUR SOCIAL STATUS, YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS AND YOUR LIFE TO THAT OF OTHERS.

My life, your life, our work and our passions, our talents and our goals, are that of our own. That alone is what makes them special and worth while. To compare your life, your passions, talents, and goals, to that of those standing beside you, is to break the bond that we are called to have with others.

Jealousy is a fancy, selfish way, of looking up to someone. If you remove the jealousy, and merely look up to them in a loving, selfless manor, you are now instantly more Godly and more destined for true success, than 99% of anyone on this earth.

Photography doesn't make it easy. I'm always seeing other creators doing things I'd love to be doing, going places I'd love to be going, and creating things I couldn't even imagine thinking of. But, rather than being jealous, I try my best to make a point to remind myself of something.. We are all human. We all have the same amount of potential as anyone who has ever lived before us or will ever live after us. To think that I am able to be jealous of someone who worked to achieve something, or create something, from the ground up, kinda sickens me.

I have a note on my cork board thingy next to my computer desk, that says "You were made to be you, not anyone else.", and it serves as a reminder that who, what, where I am, is simply because that's where I've put myself.

Stop comparing yourself, and start being proud of those around you. Stop wishing for more, and start working for it.
